The story

Miraloma Park was laid out from 1926 through the 1950s, developed largely by the Meyer Brothers, who assembled land from the Sutro estate, Wells Fargo & Company, and other owners. They marketed it as a 'City in Itself,' a suburban home center of mostly one-story-over-garage houses on curving streets that follow the hill's contours in the City Beautiful tradition. Roughly 2,400 single-family homes were built, many on the lower slopes of Mount Davidson, whose summit had been preserved as a public park in 1929. Residents organized the Miraloma Park Improvement Club, whose first meeting was held in 1930 and which incorporated in 1936. The developer built and donated a clubhouse on Del Vale Avenue, dedicated November 10, 1940, and the club remains vigorous today.
